His Honour Chief Justice William Alstergren has released a Statement to the Profession on the Victorian Stage 4 Restrictions in relation to the Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia.
The Family Court of Australia & Federal Circuit Court of Australia will continue to remain open during the new stage 4 restrictions in Metropolitan Melbourne. These restrictions mean that workplaces in Melbourne must be closed unless the workplace is part of a permitted activity, or employees are working from home. The Courts' operations will continue via Microsoft Teams and by telephone.
His Honour has confirmed that "the work performed by the Courts and members of the profession in the Melbourne & Dandenong Registries is often urgent or priority work and as far as possible the profession should be given every courtesy to attend their chambers or offices when it is not reasonably practicable to work from home."
