You are invited to attend a free half-day workshop with Dr Luke Gahan! Dr Luke Gahan is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University and a Research Fellow at the National Ageing Research Institute. He completed his PhD at the Bouverie Centre, Victoria's Family Institute and at the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health and Society. His doctoral research examined the experiences of separation and divorce within same-sex parented families.
Dr Luke Gahan's workshop will cover:
- Changing social attitudes and current trends in same-sex divorce;
- His research findings regarding separated same-sex parents and their experiences both before and after legal changes recognising female non-biological parents;
- Multi-parent family households and their experiences of separation and shared parenting;
- His research findings on same-sex parenting experiences and perceptions of service providers, including lawyers, counsellors, mediators and Family Relationship Centres;
- How professionals and organisations as a whole can work with and support same-sex parented families
